The Golden State Warriors are now reportedly less likely to trade Jonathan Kuminga following Jimmy Butler’s injury.
Despite being involved in various trade rumors since the offseason and requesting a trade himself, the Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga is now more likely to remain with the team through the end of this season.
According to ESPN's Anthony Slater, Kuminga is now less likely to be moved after Jimmy Butler's season-ending injury.
"Multiple team sources have described it as less likely Kuminga is moved following Jimmy Butler's right ACL tear," Slater reports.
"Prior to that injury, Kuminga was a $22.5 million wing rotting on the bench, having not seen the floor for 16 straight games. Without Butler, he's back in the mix, scoring 30 points in 30 bench minutes before the injury."
"There's internal conversation that he'd get another crack at minutes post-deadline, if he's still around. That has yet to be determined, though," Slater adds.

Despite the season-ending ACL injury of Jimmy Butler and his emergency reinsertion to the Dubs roster, Kuminga remains convinced to leave the Bay Area after demanding a trade. But infamously, general manager Mike Dunleavy argued that there's no significant market interest in Kuminga.
Kuminga spent most of the 2025-26 season being DNP'd by head coach Steve Kerr and is seeking new beginnings. He is expected to miss an extended period after suffering from a bone bruise in his left knee last week.
This season, the 23-year-old is averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
