Arne Slot is going to leave Liverpool regardless of what happens this season, according to a new report

The Dutch manager is feeling the pressure at Anfield following his side’s latest defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League. The loss ended the Reds’ 13-game unbeaten run and means they are still without a league win in 2026.

Liverpool are yo-yoing their way through a turbulent season and are now aiming for a top four finish, as their hopes of defending their title have dissolved.

Frustrations among the fans are growing and calls for Slot to be sacked are starting to increase in volume. This winless league run is now another mark against Slot, with their previous nine defeats in 12 earlier this season still being felt.

Arne Slot will leave Liverpool at the end of the season

While the sack rumours are rife once again, it has been suggested that Slot will be kept on until the end of the season, when the club will then seek a replacement.

Whispers in Spain suggested this last week while Xabi Alonso has been linked with a sensational return to Liverpool. Now, former Sky Sports journalist Marcus Buckland has revealed that he has been told Slot will depart in the summer.

While discussing loose links between Alonso and Tottenham Hotspur, Buckland told The Tottenham Way podcast: “I hear, a good source tells me that Arne Slot going to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, whatever happens, so Xabi Alonso is going to sit.

“I’m pretty sure you’re absolutely right. If he completely takes leave of his senses, he’s not going to be arriving at Tottenham any time soon.”

Will Liverpool make Xabi Alonso their new manager?

Liverpool wanted to sign Alonso following the departure of Jurgen Klopp and it seems that interest has not gone away.

The Spanish report mentioned earlier claimed that the Reds have been in ‘positive contact’ with their former midfielder’s representatives. Liverpool have been sounding out Alonso as they want to know ‘if they can count on him’.

The ex-Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid manager is also aware that he will be welcomed back to Anfield with open arms.

While these talks are reportedly being held, Liverpool are said to have told Slot that he will remain in a job until the end of the season. The Reds still have two trophies to challenge for as their FA Cup and Champions League hopes remain alive at this point in the season.
