Report: Chelsea director hatches£100m transfer idea to please Cole Palmer

There has been some speculation over Cole Palmer’s future at Chelsea, which merely looks like fluff at this stage.

Cole Palmer has had a rather frustrating season to date, as niggly issues and a lack of form have really hampered his progress.

It was stated that Palmer would return for the Crystal Palace clash, but he ended up being absent due to not quite recovering in time, which raised some concerns.

There’s no doubting his commitment to Chelsea, as he’s privately told Liam Rosenior that he wants to be a Blue amid speculation surrounding him and Manchester United.

And it seems as if Chelsea are going to do everything they can to make him feel comfortable.

Chelsea wants to reunite Cole Palmer with Morgan Rogers

Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer played together at Manchester City, where they became close friends.

And with the rise of Rogers at Aston Villa, it seems as if Chelsea views now as the perfect time to reunite the pair at Stamford Bridge.

According to TeamTalk, Co‑Director of Recruitment and Talent, Joe Shields, is a major driving force behind the idea of bringing the pair back together.

It’s stated that Shields worked closely with both players during his time at City and is a huge admirer of their chemistry on and off the pitch.

Despite Rogers recently signing a new deal at Villa Park, he remains firmly on Chelsea’s radar.

A potential Morgan Rogers move in the summer

Any kind of move for Rogers is likely to cost around £100 million, given the figures we have seen floating around in conversations before. The fact that he has recently signed a new deal also gives Aston Villa the upper hand.

And Fabrizio Romano has already stated that there is no chance for Rogers in January.

It’s a bit of a mystery where he would fit in for Chelsea, too, given that he and Palmer both play in more of a free roam position.

As we have seen, the likes of Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto have been favoured on either flank, so it would be a case of having to drop one of them or using Palmer off the right.
