According to Anthony Slater of ESPN, the Warriors are not willing to take on Malik Monk’s or DeMar DeRozan’s multiyear contracts in such a deal.

“While the Sacramento Kings have long been Kuminga’s most interested suitor, league sources said there has been no recent traction in those talks,” Slater reports.

“The Warriors have maintained no desire to absorb Malik Monk’s or DeMar DeRozan’s multiyear contracts in the deal, messaging to the Kings that they’d prefer an expiring contract in a smaller-scale maneuver,” he adds.

Despite Jimmy Butler’s season-ending ACL injury and his emergency return to the Dubs roster, Kuminga remains intent on leaving the Bay Area after requesting a trade. However, general manager Mike Dunleavy has noted that there is currently no significant market interest in Kuminga.

Kuminga spent much of the 2025–26 season as a DNP under head coach Steve Kerr and is seeking a fresh start. This season, the 23-year-old is averaging 12.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
