Report: Star rejects fresh offer in commitment to Liverpool

One Liverpool star has reportedly rejected a fresh offer in a show of commitment to the club. But is it misplaced?

There are now only a few days remaining in this January transfer window. Liverpool, though, are yet to make any first-team moves.

That's not to say that there isn't at least one on the cards, however. Andy Robertson is heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and reports suggest that Liverpool have agreed on terms.

Robertson is out of contract at the end of the season. It looks increasingly unlikely that he gets a new one - especially if the Reds are ready to sell him.

Letting him leave early would save some money, even if many believe it's a completely misplaced idea. It's also one that will only happen if certain events trigger it.

Kostas Tsimikas situation

Reports, such as that from the Athletic, claim that Liverpool would need Kostas Tsimikas back from Roma if they're to let Robertson leave. The Reds won't be signing a replacement, nor will they sanction any moves before the Greek returns.

Tsimikas has been off in Italy all season but has struggled badly. Roma are actually happy for him to leave, they just also want a replacement first.

Tsimikas, though, is in a strange spot. Liverpool don't want him until they do - he's firmly a backup option and only because Robertson leaving creates a void in the position.

If Liverpool ultimately decide to keep the Scot, though, Tsimikas is stuck. He doesn't want to leave Roma unless it's to re-join Liverpool's first-team squad.
