Chelsea are scrambling around for signings before the January transfer window shuts, but there’s already an exciting addition set for the summer.
Douglas Luiz may not be making his way to Chelsea this month, but the Blues won’t have given up hope on signing a midfielder before the deadline.
However, the way that the business is being conducted this month does seem rather slow. A potential deal for Jeremy Jacquet now looks difficult due to Rennes asking price.

It’s outgoings too that remain unsolved. Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling and Tyrique George are no closer to sealing an exit from Stamford Bridge.
But the one positive is that Chelsea already have a signing lined up for the summer.
Geovany Quenda sees his value soar to £70 million
Geovany Quenda is set to join Chelsea in the summer for a fee of around £43 million.
He’s currently plying his trade at Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, where he’s scored five and assists eight this season. This includes two goals and two assists in the Champions League.
If that doesn’t excite you about the 18-year-old, then the recent data from the Football Observatory will, as they now see his value at £70 million, despite not even joining yet.
Their data shows that he’s one of the best non-big-5 league players born in 2006 or later. He ranks ahead of Kees Smith, who is wanted by just about every club in Europe right now.

Who is Geovany Quenda?
Ruben Amorim really wanted Geovany Quenda at Manchester United, but Chelsea got the job done.
Quenda is one of the most explosive young wingers in world football right now. Primarily a right winger who thrives on cutting inside onto his left foot, the 18-year-old has displayed maturity by adapting to a right wing-back role at Sporting.
Similar to Estevao Willian, he’s showing remarkable development for a player so young. Already showing he can handle himself on the biggest stages.
His season has been halted though, as he’s currently recovering from an injury. Quenda has even spent his time recovering at Cobham, which points to preparation for next season.
It’s just a question of where does he fit in with all the wingers Chelsea currently have.
