Tatum believes that few places in the NBA carry as much pressure as Boston, with so many great players in the franchise's history having won championships.
He even stated that, given the career he has had so far, he would already have a statue outside the arena if he played for a team like the Memphis Grizzlies.
"The career I have right now, if I had it with the Grizzlies, I would have a statue outside the arena right now," Tatum said on The Pivot podcast.
"I'm chasing people like Larry Bird, where the standard is so much higher. You don't want to be the great player in Celtics history who didn't win," he added.
In his eight seasons with the Celtics, Tatum has led the team to a single NBA Championship in 2024, while also earning six All-Star selections and five All-NBA team honors.
In 585 games for Boston, Tatum holds career averages of 23.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
