Hull City striker Enis Destan is on the verge of agreeing a short-term loan move to Westerlo in Belgium ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday night.

Destan is currently sidelined with a knee problem, which has seen him out of action since the New Year’s Day defeat to Stoke City, and was at the MKM Stadium to see the Tigers beat Swansea City on Saturday, their third win on the spin.

The frontman is not expected back fit until next month, but he’ll complete his rehab and finish the season in Belgium, where he’ll link up with former City striker Allahyar Sayyadmanesh.

Westerlo sit 12th in the Belgian Pro League, just two points above the drop zone after 22 games, and they’ll hope Destan will hit the ground running once he returns to fitness.

City signed the frontman from Trabzonspor in the summer, signing a permanent deal at the MKM Stadium, but he arrived with a knee injury, and that has hampered his progress.

He missed the first four league games with that issue before making his debut off the bench in the 2-2 draw at Swansea City in September.

The 23-year-old’s first goal came in the 3-2 win over Portsmouth, and he backed that up the following week when he netted to give City the lead at QPR, only for the Tigers to end up losing 3-2.

In total, Destan has played 18 times for the Tigers, and it’s expected he will return to the MKM Stadium in the summer. His departure frees up the space required for City to complete the loan signing of winger Lewis Koumas from Liverpool.

Koumas, who can play anywhere across the top of the pitch, is expected to seal his move from Anfield in the next couple of days and providing it goes through in time, he could be in the squad at Ewood Park on Saturday.

City also expect to announce the arrivals of Paddy McNair and Toby Collyer in the next 48 hours. McNair has been in England for the last few days, and Collyer is due at the club on Wednesday.

The Tigers have already added attack-minded players Yu Hirakawa and Kieran Dowell to their squad this month. With the imminent arrivals of Collyer, McNair and Koumas, it will take the club's winter business to five new arrivals, despite working under strict transfer restrictions.
