Report: Man City owners set to offer forgotten Chelsea player a move after BlueCo failure

Chelsea really need to get a move on when it comes to getting players a move this month, as there’s just under a week until the deadline.

There seems to be a real lack of urgency to try and find resolutions for the futures of players like Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi and Tyrique George.

Liam Rosenior has reintroduced Disasi to the first team squad at Cobham, but he’s still expected to leave Chelsea before the deadline.

Chelsea’s Champions League opponents Napoli had an interest in signing Raheem Sterling and talks were believed to be underway, but that has gone quiet.

Tyrique George thought he was a Fulham player back in the summer, but he’s just been wasting away since that move broke down.

However, there’s another player who needs a move.

City Group want to sign Deivid Washington this month

Deivid Washington is a name that Chelsea fans may have forgotten.

He was expected to go out on loan earlier in the window, but an injury has halted Washington.

According to Jonas Stelmann (as per Sport Witness), given City Football Group’s strong focus on the English game, Deivid Washington has emerged as a logical solution at Bahia.

It’s stated that it could allow the Man City owners to present a broader development plan to the player, which BlueCo apparently failed to do so. That includes a potential pathway back into European football if a permanent move is discussed later.

Chelsea have no plans to use Deivid Washington in the first team this season, and as a result, the Blues are open to negotiating another temporary exit.

Deivid Washington’s season to date at Chelsea

After his £17 million move from Santos in 2023, he spent much of his first year with the U21s before being sent back to Santos on a season-long loan in February 2025.

Since then, he has been featuring for Chelsea’s U21 side in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy, where he has struggled for form, failing to find the net in seven appearances since his return.

It doesn’t look as if there’s a future for Washington at Chelsea, especially when you see the options they already have in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

However, he is still young, so there’s still hope he can turn things around with the right move.
