Liverpool is not currently pursuing a move for Adam Wharton, despite recent reports suggesting that a contract agreement has already been reached with the midfielder.
Wharton has been the subject of transfer speculation for some time now, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United being regularly linked with his services.
The 21-year-old has become one of Crystal Palace’s most sought after players, having joined the club from Blackburn in 2024 and gone on to earn three England caps in the proceeding years. He is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2029, although if rumors are anything to go by, he might be destined for a move before then.

Earlier this week, a report on social media claimed that Wharton had agreed a five-year contract. That has now been shot down by Liverpool, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Wharton is said to not currently be an active target for the Reds, with the club feeling as though it is well stocked in midfield at the moment.
Whether Liverpool chooses to pursue the midfielder at a later date remains to be seen, although if it does, it looks as though it could have to battle with a familiar rival for his signature.

United continues to be linked with Wharton, with The I (via The Mirror) claiming that he has been placed at the top of the midfield shortlist for the summer at Old Trafford.
With Casemiro confirmed to be leaving the club at the end of the season, United will be in the market for a new midfielder. Speculation has suggested that Carlos Baleba could be an option, although the Red Devils already decided against a move for the Brighton star last summer due to his $138 million (£100M) price tag.

Palace, on the other hand, is said to be demanding between $83M (£60M) and $97M (£70M) for Wharton, with United reportedly seeing him as a worthy investment.
Liverpool.com says: It wouldn’t come as a surprise at all if Wharton gets a move soon. The way things are going at Palace at the moment, it does seem as though there’s a mass exodus on the cards, especially with Oliver Glasner leaving in the summer.

Whether Liverpool would go in for Wharton at a later date though is doubtful. The Reds will have other areas to contend with first before thinking about the midfield, with defense surely the priority before looking at the wings.
