Cavs’ Evan Mobley to miss at least one week with injury

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The timing couldn’t be worse.

The surging Cavs, riding a four-game winning streak and winners of six of their last seven games, will be without third-leading scorer Evan Mobley because of a left calf strain.

The injury occurred during Monday’s 114-98 win over the Orlando Magic — a night in which Mobley scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. After postgame evaluation of tightness in his lower leg, Mobley underwent an MRI at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health that revealed a strain.

He is expected to miss approximately 1-3 weeks.

It’s the second time this year that Mobley will be sidelined because of a left calf strain. The first — on Dec. 12 — cost Mobley five games.

In 42 games this season, including 40 starts, Mobley is averaging 17.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks. He has scored double figures in 12 straight.
