Proposed Heat trade sees Miami deal Jaime Jaquez-based package for $197 million two-time All-Star, All-NBA guard

The Miami Heat are currently treading water in the Eastern Conference, sitting in seventh place with a record of 25-22. If they want to really become a true playoff contender, they need to find a superstar to rally around by the trade deadline.

Fansided’s Bradley Rowland believes so as well, and proposes that the Heat finally go out and get the superstar they’ve been targeting: Memphis Grizzlies two-time All-Star Ja Morant.

The trade would look like this:

Heat get: G Ja Morant

Grizzlies get: F Jaime Jaquez, F Simone Fontecchio, G Terry Rozier, 2030 first-rounder

“Jaquez is not a game-changing force, but he is a 24-year-old averaging more than 15 points per game in his third NBA season. He would arrive in Memphis with one more year of cheap rookie-scale control, plus the ability for the Grizzlies to exercise his restricted free agency at the end of the 2026-27 season…Overall, Miami gets Morant without having to give up big-time draft capital or any of its core pieces (Herro, Adebayo, Powell, Ware, etc.), while Memphis can sell a package that includes two real assets,” Rowland wrote.

So far this season, Morant is averaging 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and one steal in 28.5 minutes per game. He would definitely breathe life into Miami’s offense as a playmaker, and if he plays more minutes, as a scorer.

This trade really does work for both sides. The Heat get their superstar, and the Grizzlies get a rising star, two expiring contracts to either flip or let them run out and walk at the end of the season, and a first round pick.

Hopefully, the Heat find a way to make this proposal into reality, and get on the phone with the Grizzlies’ front office to start negotiations.
