Liverpool looks set to offload another of its youngsters before the end of the January transfer window, with young goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek set for a move to the MLS.

Although the Reds have not made any major signings so far this month, and no senior players have left the club either, it has been a busy New Year for the club’s academy.

Mor Talla Ndiaye was signed earlier in the month, having caught the eye for Senegal during last year’s U17 World Cup, while fellow center-back Ifeanyi Ndukwe is set to join him in the summer, with a deal having been agreed with Austria Vienna.

As for departures, left-back James Norris has departed for Irish side Shelbourne, while Luke Chambers joined Charlton on loan last week - and now another young player looks to be on the move away from Merseyside.

According to The Athletic, FC Cincinnati is finalizing a deal to sign Mrozek on loan. The deal includes a purchase option, with the Polish youth international looking set to bring his near six-year stay at Liverpool to an end.

Mrozek joined the Reds back in 2020 from FC Wroclaw in a £250,000 ($346,075) deal, and has gone on to represent the club at youth levels, although he hasn’t made an appearance for the senior side.

The 22-year-old has made 17 appearances in Premier League 2, while also playing 11 times for Forest Green Rovers in the National League last season.

Mrozek did earn call-ups to Jurgen Klopp’s squad during the German’s final season in charge, having been named on the bench against Burnley in the Premier League, as well as five games in the Europa League.

He is expected to become Cincinnati’s third-choice goalkeeper, behind American keepers Roman Celentano and Evan Louro. The MLS side gets its season underway on February 19 with a Concacaf Champions Cup game against Dominican Republic side O&M, before getting its league campaign underway against Atlanta United two days later.

Mrozek is not the only Liverpool player who could be on the move before the end of the current window. According to The Athletic, Trent Kone-Doherty and Kieran Morrison are both on a list of players who could also head out on loan.

Amara Nallo is also on that list, with Ndiaye’s arrival having been seen as the catalyst for the young center-back to head out, although it remains to be seen whether Wellity Lucky’s injury might change the Reds’ plans, with the 20-year-old set to be missing for at least two months with a hamstring problem.
