Luka Doncic finished with 46 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds in a 129-118 win over the Chicago Bulls.

On Jan. 26 the Los Angeles Lakers pulled out an impressive 129-118 win over the Chicago Bulls. Luka Doncic dominated in the win finishing with 46 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds.

Doncic Surpassed 2,000 points as a Laker and he became the fastest player in franchise history to achieve that, doing so in 65 games. He joins an exclusive list alongside Wilt Chamberlain and Walt Bellamy as the only players in NBA history to score 2,000 points in their first 65 games with a franchise.

Chamberlain and Bellamy are in the Hall of Fame and Doncic will be inducted when it’s all said and done. This season, Doncic has had an MVP-caliber season and is playing some of the best basketball of his career. He was named a starter for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, marking his sixth appearance in an All-Star game.

If Doncic continues to play like he has been, he’ll be strongly considered for his first MVP award.

Luka Doncic Joining Two Hall of Fame Players

After Doncic’s performance in the win over Chicago, Lakers’ head coach JJ Redick talked about the success Doncic has on the court. “He’s an engine that’s fully on,” Redick said. “And he likes to create out there, and that’s a part of what makes him a great player. … Not to say it doesn’t test your patience at times, but you have to be willing to live with some of the stuff that he tries, because more often than not, you’re going to get a great result.”

Through 65 games with the Lakers, Doncic has scored a total of 2,038 points. Chamberlain finished his career scoring a total of 31,419 points and Bellamy finished with 20,941 points. Doncic has scored a total of 14,127 points so far and that number is increasingly growing. There’s a good chance he will pass both Chamberlain and Bellamy on the all-time points list.

At 26, Doncic has a lot of basketball left and he continues to show how talented he is on the court. Doncic has the ability to score anywhere on the court. With his height and size, he can score in the post and is not afraid to drive to the paint and create contact.

Luka Doncic, One of the Best Scorers in the Game

Doncic currently leads the league in points per game at 33.8. Over the course of his career, Doncic has averaged over 30 points twice, doing it in back-to-back seasons during his time with the Dallas Mavericks. This year, there’s a good chance he’ll make it three times.

There’s no doubt that Doncic is one of the best scorers in the game today. His ability to make tough shots is like no other and he plays the game at his pace. While he’s one of the top scorers in the league, Doncic wants to win. This season the Lakers have maintained a good position in the Western Conference standings and have a good chance of making the postseason. Doncic will do everything he can to help the Lakers make a deep postseason push and compete for an NBA title.
