Jayson Tatum: I 'contemplate' playing this season amid Celtics success

Tatum acknowledged Boston's stelalr basketball campaign this 2025-26 season despite his ongoing inactivity from Achilles rehab.

In the latest episode of The Pivot Podcast, Jayson Tatum went straightforward about the chances of making his return to the Boston Celtics this 2025-26 season.

Out of the team's ongoing unforeseen success, the superstar forward admitted that he's been thinking about playing this season which might disrupt the Celtics' composure and chemistry.

"That's something I contemplate every day," Tatum said. "More so about the team, if or when I do come back this season, they would've played 50 some-odd games without me. So they have an identity this year or things that they felt have clicked for them, and it's been successful, right, third or second team in the East up to this point.

"So there is a thought in my head that's like, how does that work or hows does that look with me integrating myself off an injury and 50-60 games into a season?"

But as he continues his recovery behind the scenes, the Celtics are shockingly thriving. Led by Jaylen Brown, Boston is currently No. 2 in the East with a 29-17 record.

Should Tatum comes back soon, head coach Joe Mazzulla Celtics will truly adjust once again. And that would be critical as it can disturb the team when it matters the most with the postseason approaching.

"There could obviously be some challenges and it is a thought, like damn? Do I come back or should I wait? It's something that I honestly, recently in the last two weeks or so, just kind of contemplate every single day," Tatum confessed.
