Jeremy Jacquet chooses Chelsea over other top clubs
Ultimately, the French side don’t want to part ways with a crucial first team player halfway through the season, opening up the opportunity for a deal to be in place before the summer window.
Sky journalist Kaveh Solhekol has stated that Jacquet has a preference to join Chelsea still, despite the fact that other top clubs are interested in a deal.
He said: “The player has expressed a preference for joining Chelsea despite interest from multiple clubs. Talks are ongoing between Rennes and Chelsea about a deal for the 20-year-old centre back. Ideally, Rennes want to keep the player until the summer.”
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that both Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also showing interest in the player, leaving it a competitive market if Chelsea cannot get the deal done this month.

Chelsea’s plans for January transfer window
As well as a centre-back, Chelsea are targeting another position for a potential signing before the January window slams shut.
The Blues have been eyeing up a new midfielder, likely looking for cover following long-term injury problems for Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo.
Their efforts to bring in Douglas Luiz on loan have not worked out. He has now returned to Aston Villa from Juventus instead.
Chelsea supporters can dream that N’golo Kante would be the player they bring in. The midfielder is heavily linked with a move away from Saudi Arabia this month.
