Estevao Willian shares what he's been working on since joining Chelsea that helped him score vs Crystal Palace

Estevao Willian played a key role in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Crystal Palace last weekend.

It was the winger who opened the scoring for Chelsea with a calm finish in front of goal. He then set up Joao Pedro with a sublime ball in the second half.

Understandably, fans here on The Chelsea Chronicle named Estevao as their Player of the Match through TalkingPoints.

Estevao Willian has been working on improving his speed

Estevao used his acceleration to get away from Tyrick Mitchell before calmly slotting the ball past Dean Henderson for Chelsea’s first goal against Palace.

Since then, the Brazilian has revealed that he has really been working on his speed since joining Chelsea, which was clear to see at Selhurst Park.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official club website, Estevao said: “I’ve been working a lot on speed. I know speed and physicality are important in the Premier League, so I’ve been training on that and it’s good to see it has results already.”

It was the Brazil international’s second goal in the Premier League this term, with his first coming against Liverpool back in October.

Estevao has also netted three times in the Champions League, so Chelsea will be delighted with the start that he has made to life in west London.

It is early days, but Estevao is setting records at Chelsea as an 18-year-old.

Estevao Willian’s understanding of the game has also improved

Estevao has also become a smarter player during his time at Chelsea. The former Palmeiras star feels his understanding of the game has got better since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

“My understanding of the game is what has improved the most since I arrived at Chelsea: knowing when to accelerate, when to hold the ball,” Estevao said.

With Estevao not turning 19 until April, it is scary to imagine what kind of attacker he could become in his mid-20s.

The Chelsea superstar is already making a huge impact and is only going to grow into a better footballer. Estevao has not been at the Club World Cup winners for long, but what a signing he has already proven to be.
