Report: Another new suitor joins race for£39m Chelsea man, he could end up alongside David De Gea

If Chelsea are going to be active in the final days of the January window, it feels at this stage that the likeliest movement is set to be a handful of players leaving the club.

Chelsea remain in talks for Rennes’ Jeremy Jacquet, but Fabrizio Romano confirms Jacquet will only leave Rennes in the summer. Then, Chelsea want a midfielder, having missed out on Douglas Luiz to Aston Villa.

Liverpool’s Curtis Jones has also emerged as a surprise target for Chelsea. But with time running out, it feels unlikely that any new signings arrive before the deadline. However, Chelsea need to offload a few.

Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling are the obvious two. There are also decisions to be made on Aaron Anselmino and if Kendry Paez and David Fofana will stay at their loan sides, Strasbourg and Karagumruk.

Fiorentina make late push to sign £39m Chelsea player

Last week and ahead of the Pafos game, Liam Rosenior confirmed £39m defender Disasi had returned to training at Chelsea. Part of the so-called bomb squad, Disasi has failed to play since his Aston Villa loan.

But with Anselmino back, and Chelsea still boasting Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong – with Tosin injured – Disasi’s future still feels as though it won’t be at Chelsea.

West Ham have opened talks for Disasi, while Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign him. Now, Gianluca Di Marzio claims the busy Fiorentina are making a late move to lure Disasi to Serie A this month.

Fiorentina have already made four signings this month

After a dismal start to the season, David De Gea’s Fiorentina sit in 18th place in Serie A, and La Viola have decided to bring in some new players in an attempt to steer the club clear of relegation to Serie B.

Is there a way back for Axel Disasi at Chelsea?

Two midfielders have arrived from Serie A clubs – Marco Brescianini joins from Atalanta and Giovanni Fabian has gone on loan to Fiorentina from Bologna. Jack Harrison has also joined from Leeds United.

Manor Solomon, part of the Leeds side that got promoted last season, has also joined Fiorentina on loan after a disappointing spell in the first half of the season at Villarreal. Now, Disasi could be number five.
