Arsenal have been linked with another highly promising young South American talent.
The latest name associated with a potential move to North London is 16-year old Brazilian Iago Machado. The teenager currently plays for Corinthians and has yet to make his senior debut, but his performances at youth level have been good enough that he has been invited to train with the first-team.
Like the Ecuadorean twins Edwin and Holger Quintero, who have already signed for the club, Machado would only be eligible to arrive in England when he turns 18.
However their continued interest reflects a broader philosophy centred on long-term planning rather than short-term fixes. The club believe that investing in elite young talent can yield significant rewards in the future, both on the pitch and in terms of squad sustainability.
It is hoped that, in time Machado could follow in compatriot Gabriel Magalhaes’ footsteps and become a top-class talent.
