FC Porto have emerged as an option for Liverpool’s Keyrol Figueroa late in the winter market.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered multiple declarations of the Dragons negotiating with Liverpool for a loan transfer.
Figueroa moved to Anfield when the Reds signed him from FC Dallas in 2019. The 19-year-old has been part of Liverpool’s youth system but hasn’t made his first team debut yet. Arne Slot had Figueroa on the bench in Liverpool’s EFL Club defeat to Crystal Palace in October. That has been his only experience with the first team.
Porto can offer him regular minutes during the second half of the season. Diez first covered Porto’s interest in the forward. Earlier this month, he changed agents and Federico Pastorello now manages him.
According to Diez, Figueroa’s mother, Sandra Norales, along with his new agent, have been leading the negotiations with Porto.
Their immediate focus will be on the Europa League clash against Rangers. Porto are ninth in the table and a win over Danny Röhl’s side tomorrow would see them finish in the top eight.
Journalist Alvaro De La Rocha took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide a new twist in this case.
He now claims the Liverpool player’s agent denies being in ‘active negotiations’ with the Primeira Liga side. This sounds like positioning rather than an outright denial of anything going on.
Next step is renewal and exit
The young attacker has a contract until the end of this season. The Premier League side are keen on extending his stay beyond this season. Negotiations with other clubs make sense, and it would be odd if that were not the case.
According to De La Rocha, Liverpool are already preparing a renewal offer for Figueroa. Their plan is to extend his contract and send him on loan elsewhere before Monday’s deadline.
The journalist adds Figueroa’s entourage are working on two options, as transfer talks clearly do continue.
