Saliba, Timber– Arsenal injury latest, suspensions and return dates after Mikel Arteta updates

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is expected to rest a number of players for their final Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty on Wednesday evening (8pm). Arsenal have won all seven of their Champions League games so far this campaign, beating the likes of Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

Jurrien Timber, William Saliba and Mikel Merino were all involved in the 3-2 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, but were absent from Tuesday's training session. When asked about whether they were available, Arteta said in his press conference: "No, those aren't."

On Saliba and Timber, Arteta added: "No, they have some niggles and it's a good opportunity now that we make a different kind of work with them to get them in the best possible conditions that we can offer them."

Merino and Declan Rice, however, are suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Meanwhile, Riccardo Calafiori and Kai Havertz both took part in the session.

Havertz has played only 59 minutes this season after suffering a knee injury in the Premier League opener. Max Dowman will remain unavailable as he recovers from an ankle injury and is not expected to return until next month.

Ahead of the clash, a point is all the Gunners need to cement their position at the top of the table and given the opposition, Arteta may use the fixture to rotate.
