The Celtics will likely be shorthanded in their big man rotation for their 7:30 p.m. Wednesday game against the Hawks. Neemias Queta (illness) is doubtful on the C’s injury report and Luka Garza (illness) is questionable. Jayson Tatum remains out with his Achilles rehab.
Queta has been listed on the injury report with an illness for the past few games. But he’s ended up playing even if he hasn’t be at 100%. Garza also missed the win over the Trail Blazers on Monday because he was sick.
Two-way big man Amari Williams has seen an uptick in minutes in the meantime. He finished out the double overtime win over the Nets, started against the Bulls then had a career-best performance against the Blazers last time out. Williams will likely play Wednesday if the Celtics are down for one of their bigs.
There’s also a chance Josh Minott plays some small-ball center. The C’s went away from that look, but Minott is healthy after missing a few weeks due to an ankle sprain.
The Celtics are 29-17 and still second in the East, though both the Knicks and Raptors are right behind them in the standings. The Feb. 5 trade deadline is also next week with potential movement across the league on the horizon.
