Arsenal might have been beaten by Manchester United at the weekend – but they remain in pole position to win the Premier League title. The Gunners are four points behind Manchester City and return to action against Kairat in the Champions League tonight.

However, when it comes to transfers, having splashed out approximately £250million in the summer, Arsenal are not anticipated to be particularly active this month. So far this month, the most high-profile deal done by the Gunners has seen Ethan Nwaneri move to Marseille on loan for the rest of the season.

The forward starred for the Gunners in a breakthrough campaign last year, scoring nine times across all competitions. However, he had found opportunities difficult to come by so far this season.

And he made a dream start to life in France at the weekend, scoring 13 minutes into his debut on Saturday as his side secured a crucial 3-1 win over Ligue 1 rivals Lens in the Stade Velodrome. The 18-year-old played 58 minutes of the clash, which saw Marseille move to within five points of Lens in the table and within seven points of leaders PSG.

And even though there is an expectation that any arrivals this month are unlikely, the rumour mill is buzzing with speculation about potential incomings and outgoings at the Emirates Stadium. So, with that in mind, we have rounded up the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip.

Oleksandr Zinchenko latest

Nottingham Forest boss Sean Dyche was coy regarding the future of Oleksandr Zinchenko earlier this month. The Ukraine international is on a season-long loan from Arsenal but he has struggled for game time at the City Ground due to injury and a high turnover in managers.

Dyche said the club were planning to speak to the full-back about his future, amid reports they are ready to send him back to his parent club. And now according to Voetbal International, the Gunners and Forest have come to an agreement on terminating Zinchenko’s loan at the City Ground.

The agreement will allow the Ukraine international to join Ajax, although it now appears that will be on a permanent basis rather than loan. Zinchenko is set to undergo a medical later this week ahead of signing a six-month deal at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Asked about Zinchenko joining his side, Ajax interim manager Fred Grim said: “I hope that (Zinchenko’s signing) will take shape soon.

“At Ajax, we’re very busy strengthening our squad. It will have to be finalised in the coming week. In my opinion, there are still some possibilities then.”

Maldini Kacurri and Harrison Dudziak 'attracting interest'

Meanwhile, according to The Athletic, a number of academy players could also still leave the club before the end of the window. They report that Braintree Town are interested in signing Harrison Dudziak on a longer-term loan.
