Conflicting reports emerge on Liverpool striker exit

With just five days remaining until the winter transfer window slams shut on February 2nd at 11pm, Premier League clubs are in overdrive to conclude deals and strengthen their squads for the second half of the season. The frantic final days of the January market never fails to deliver drama, unexpected twists, and last-minute agreements.

Liverpool, like their rivals, are acutely aware of the ticking clock. Arne Slot’s side have been relatively quiet in the outgoing market compared to some clubs, though several academy players remain the subject of speculation with interested suitors from across Europe and beyond making approaches.

One academy prospect who has attracted particular attention in the final week of January is 19-year-old striker Keyrol Figueroa, whose scintillating form for Liverpool’s Under-21s has made him coveted by Portuguese outfit Porto. Earlier this week, reports from Honduras outlet Diario Diez claimed Liverpool were poised to extend Figueroa’s contract, which expires in June 2026, before sanctioning a loan move to Portuguese giants FC Porto. The deal was said to include an option-to-buy clause worth €4 million.

However, it seems that conflicting reports are emerging on the transfer, with journalist Alvaro De La Rocha claiming that Keyrol Figueroa’s entourage is not in talks with Porto – but that a loan move can’t be ruled out entirely:

“Despite rumors, Keyrol Figueroa’s entourage has no active negotiations or talks with Porto of Portugal for a loan until the end of the season,” De La Rocha wrote on X.

“The Anfield club is already preparing a renewal proposal for their academy gem. Figueroa’s camp is indeed working on and handling 2 options for the player to leave the club on loan.”

Despite his exceptional scoring record (11 goals in just 12 Premier League 2 appearances this season) Figueroa has yet to make his senior Liverpool debut. His only experience with Arne Slot’s first team came in October last year when he was named on the bench for Liverpool’s EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace, though he did not feature.

🚨 EXCL: Pese a rumores, el entorno de Keyrol Figueroa no tiene negociaciones ni pláticas activas con Porto de Portugal para una cesión hasta el final de temporada.
