Bahamian senior men’s national basketball player Franco Miller Jr. is finding his stride with the Santa Cruz Warriors, an affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, during the 2025-26 National Basketball Association’s (NBA) G League regular season.
Miller, who was drafted 27th overall in the second round of the 2025 NBA G League Draft, contributed a career-high 21 points, and added eight rebounds, and three assists in his first start of the season in the Santa Cruz Warriors’ recent loss to the Salt Lake City Stars. The team fell 126-113 to the Stars on the road at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Monday.
The Bahamian guard has been stringing together quality performances over the team’s last three games.
He scored 16 points, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists, against the Sioux Falls Skyforce, on Saturday.
In the prior outing against the same team, he dropped 11 points, and added six rebounds, and five assists, but shot just 30 percent from the field and was 43 percent from beyond the arc.
Currently, Miller is averaging 7.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 36 percent from the field in 12 games played.
The Santa Cruz Warriors had a sluggish start in the opening quarter against the Salt Lake City Stars.
The team trailed 31-16 after Miller had a layup at the 3:29 mark of the first quarter. The Warriors fell behind 35-20 heading into the second quarter.
Santa Cruz shaved the deficit to single digits when Ja’Vier Francis threw down a dunk that pulled the team within seven, 58-51, at the halftime break.
Miller helped the Warriors trim the deficit to as few as five points, 65-60, by knocking down a jumper at the 10-minute mark of the third quarter.
However, the Salt Lake City Stars eventually extended the lead back to double digits and never allowed Santa Cruz a chance to get back in the game.
Warriors’ forward Jack Clark led the group with 25 points, and added 11 rebounds, and three assists, in 45 minutes of action. He shot 10-for-19 from the field and made five three-pointers.
The Stars were led by John Tonje, who recorded a team-high 25 points, and added four assists, and two rebounds, in 30 minutes of play.
The Warriors will return to action for a two-game homestand against the Iowa Wolves over the weekend.
The first game will be played Friday night at 10 p.m. at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, California.
