Liverpool have been linked with the highly-rated prospect for a while now as they plot a swoop

Liverpool are back in action on Wednesday evening with a Champions League home clash against Qarabag. They head into their upcoming game off the back of their 3-2 defeat away at AFC Bournemouth last time out in the league. The Reds have slipped down to 6th in the Premier League table.

Arne Slot’s side won the title last term but have underperformed in this campaign. They have the chance to add some more quality to their squad before the end of the January transfer window. The Merseyside giants have until the deadline on Monday 2nd February to get any final deals over the line.

Liverpool transfer update regarding Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are ‘very close’ to signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. The England international, who has three caps to his name, has been a key player for the Eagles over recent times. He is under contract at Selhurst Park until the summer of 2029.

Wharton, 21, was snapped up by the South London outfit back in 2024 and has since adapted well to the step up to the top flight. He has made 74 appearances in all competitions, 31 of which have come in this campaign. The Lancashire-born man helped them win the FA Cup last year against the odds under Oliver Glasner after they beat Manchester City in the final at Wembley.

The Blackburn-born man rose up through the academy ranks of his local team Blackburn Rovers. He was a regular at various different youth levels before breaking into their first-team. The youngster went on to play 51 matches and scored four goals.
