Beşiktaş in transfer talks with Liverpool–Surprise deadline swoop for defender

Beşiktaş have opened talks with Liverpool over a surprise late move for defender Konstantinos Tsimikas.

That’s according to journalist Efecan Öztaş. He reports that the Turkish side are in ongoing negotiations over a loan deal for the left-back.

Tsimikas is currently on loan at Roma, but the Italian side are keen to move him on this month. He’s barely featured for the Italian club since joining from Liverpool in the summer.

He had been linked with a potential return to Anfield this month as Andy Robertson was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. That, though, was cancelled as there were problems getting Tsimikas back from his loan in Rome. The current deal reportedly does not include an early termination option.

Now it appears Beşiktaş want the Greek defender. Öztaş reports that they’re even in talks with Liverpool about a loan deal. In fact, Liverpool have sent transfer terms to the Turkish club. Discussions are also underway with the player’s representatives.

Beşiktaş will, presumably, have to work out an agreement with Roma to terminate his loan there first. But there’s clearly a belief, at least in Türkiye, that there’s a deal there to be done. Beşiktaş are certainly working to make it happen.

Nottingham Forest have also been interested in bringing Tsimikas back from his Italian frustration. However, Sean Dyche’s side have been linked with so many options that he’s clearly just one of many.

Beşiktaş may be a more attractive option for the Greece international this month.
