The ongoing winter transfer market has been a slow one for Barcelona’s first-team, but the club have made sure to utilise the window to the maximum for the reserve team.
Numerous top talents across the park have been linked with, and closed in, on moves to Catalonia, and one among them is Uruguay’s Patricio Pacifico.
The teenage star is a left-back by trade but can also play as a centre-back based on the need. Already a regular starter for Defensor Sporting, the Catalans see a lot of value and potential in him.
Closer to the announcement
Earlier this week, word broke out that an agreement had been reached between all parties involved and that Pacifico’s move was all but official. Only the usual formalities of the medicals and the contract signing were said to have remained.
Now, as reported by SPORT, the player was caught on camera earlier today officially passing his medical examination as a new Barcelona player.

Thereby, he is now one step closer to the final announcement.
Barcelona and Defensor Sporting are closing in on the final details and the official signing is expected to take place tomorrow. It will, however, not be a straight-out permanent transfer.
Pacifico will sign on a six-month loan with Barcelona holding a clause to make it permanent – likely valued at €1.8 million plus variables.
That clause, however, will become mandatory if the youngster plays a certain number of games.
He will first join the Barça Atletic squad and hope to break into Hansi Flick’s plans based on his quality and consistency for the B team. Needless to say, however, he will only be one of many new players to arrive on the subsidiary side this winter.
