FC Barcelona have launched a strong push in the market to secure future talent in the ongoing transfer window.
There has been significant movement at Barça Atletic, with several departures, and the club have already secured deals for defenders Patricio Pacifico and Juwensley Onstein, as well as forward Hamza Abdelkarim.
Winger Ajay Tavares from Norwich City and Ruud Nijstad, a defender from FC Twente, are also expected to arrive. But there may be another deal struck by the Blaugrana in the coming days.
Barcelona in talks for Jesse Bisiwu
Indeed, according to SPORT, Barcelona could complete another youth signing in the form of Jesse Bisiwu, although the operation could be delayed until June.
Bisiwu, a left-sided winger at Club Brugge, has impressed Barcelona’s scouts as well as those from several clubs across Europe.
The Belgian starlet stood out at the recent Under-17 World Cup in Qatar, and initial contacts were established at the beginning of December.
However, the deal for Bisiwu is the most complicated of all the operations the Catalans are tying up this month.
Firstly, he turned 18 on 22 January, meaning he could not sign before that date. Secondly, Club Brugge consider him the leading prospect in their academy and are demanding a transfer fee that reflects his potential.
Barcelona attempted to structure the deal as a loan with a virtually mandatory option to buy, but this was not accepted.
Several clubs have enquired about Bisiwu, but the 18-year-old winger has made it clear that his absolute priority is a move to Barcelona, a position he has already communicated to his club.
The operation has been led by Barcelona’s youth football department, but sporting director Deco has now also become directly involved. Within the club, there is confidence that the signing will happen either now or in June.
