Liverpool and Chelsea are both keeping tabs on Rennes forward Kader Meite, according to reports.
The two sides are currently locked in a battle for one of the striker’s teammates, Jeremy Jacquet, but speaking on talkSPORT, journalist Ben Jacobs claimed that the same teams are also after his compatriot:
“Yeah, I think with Kader Meite, Liverpool and Chelsea are the ones to watch from the Premier League.”

Meite has reportedly already been the subject of a bid this month, with Al-Hilal tabling an offer in the region of €40m (£35m), but it appears the 18-year-old has no interest in moving to Saudi Arabia.
What do Liverpool fans need to know about the player?
The teenager went through several academies before he joined Rennes in 2022. He made his first senior appearance for the club’s B team against Briochin a couple of years ago, before being handed his first-team debut against Toulouse in November 2024.
Meite has played 32 times for Rennes since then, scoring 5 goals and providing 2 assists. His contract expires in 2028, so his club are not under any pressure to sell him in January.
Should signing Meite be a priority?
While the youngster is a very promising talent, the Reds are not exactly short of options up front, having spent £194m on both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.
If Meite were able to play out wide, the interest would make a bit more sense, but all of his game time at senior level has been as a centre-forward.
Considering how much it would cost to bring in the France Under 21 international, most would agree that the money could be better spent on a winger. Cody Gakpo has no competition for his place on the left flank, while there are serious doubts over the future of Mo Salah.
