Besiktas have emerged with surprise interest in on-loan Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas.
Tsimikas has managed just 16 total appearances across all competitions for Roma while on loan, accumulating a meagre 674 minutes of action. In Serie A specifically, the defender has been limited to 11 appearances with only four starts, playing a paltry 380 minutes in league competition.
Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini has effectively moved on from the Liverpool defender already according to Italian reports, with sporting director Frederic Massara also looking to move the 29-year-old on.
And it looks like Besiktas could be an option at least until the end of the season, according to reports coming out of Turkey today.
Efecan Öztaş has claimed that the Süper Lig giants are already in talks in an attempt to bring the Greek international to the Tüpraş Stadium this January on loan:
“Beşiktaş is interested in Konstantinos Tsimikas, the Greek left-back who plays for Liverpool and is currently on loan at Roma,” he wrote on X.
“The black-and-whites are continuing their talks for the player’s loan agreement while also gathering information from Liverpool regarding the transfer conditions. Discussions are also underway with the player’s side.”
However, with how little is left of the window, the most probable outcome seems completing his underwhelming season-long loan at Roma before returning to Liverpool in the summer to face an uncertain future.
At 29 years old and with two years remaining on his Anfield contract (which runs until June 2027), the Greek international will need a strong pre-season under Slot if he’s to resurrect his Liverpool career or secure a permanent move elsewhere.
