While the January transfer window is coming to an end, and Chelsea do not look as if it is going to make any signings, the summer window promises to be much busier.
When the summer window comes around, Chelsea are likely to be in the market for a new striker a midfielder, and a goalkeeper. Fabrizio Romano says they will also be targeting Jeremy Jacquet.
Chelsea do have three options up front. Joao Pedro is currently first choice at Chelsea, with the Brazil ace now netting two goals in two Premier League games. The chances are he starts against Napoli tonight.

Liam Delap is back-up, but the uncapped Englishman is struggling to reproduce his Ipswich form in West London. Liam Rosenior has had to defend Delap, but a striker is expected to be a priority this summer.
Gary Lineker says one striker linked with Chelsea is unhappy
Chelsea will be signing Strasbourg striker Emmanuel Emegha in the summer with a deal already agreed for the forward. But the Blues are unlikely to stop there, with Chelsea eyeing Atleti’s Julian Alvarez.

The £81m signing has been on fire for Atleti ever since he swapped Man City for Diego Simeone’s side in 2024. Two years on and he could leave, with Chelsea and PSG among the World Cup winner’s admirers.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Gary Lineker claims Alvarez is actually unhappy at Atletico Madrid ahead of the summer window. But Lineker thinks Alvarez might end up at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer.
“I know Julian Alvarez isn’t entirely happy with his life at Atlético Madrid. The kind of player you know can handle the big occasions; he’s a world champion. A guy like that at Arsenal definitely ends the game.”
David Ornstein on Arsenal’s chances of signing Julian Alvarez
It is unclear if Atleti will be open to his sale this summer, with the 25-year-old still boasting a contract at Simeone’s side until June 2030. Certainly, Atleti will want a profit on a player with a £400m exit clause.
Julian Alvarez, Dusan Vlahovic and Jean Philippe-Mateta could all be available in 2026. Who would you like to see Chelsea sign?

But all the signs point towards Arsenal this summer, with David Ornstein reporting: “Arsenal considered Alvarez in the summer. His name came up. You could see that sort of player coming into Arsenal.”
But if Alvarez wants to move and the financial power of an Arsenal or a Chelsea is on the table, it is easy to imagine that the Argentina star will be on the move. Chelsea may need to do some negotiating.
