N’Golo Kante update given by Fabrizio Romano after rumours he could return to Chelsea

Not many Chelsea fans would have thought that a potential return for N’Golo Kante could be on the cards this month.

Liam Rosenior is hesitant to bring in a central midfielder before the transfer deadline, despite reports suggesting otherwise.

Chelsea seemingly decided against signing Douglas Luiz from Juventus, with the Brazilian making a return to Premier League rivals Aston Villa instead.

Meanwhile, Rosenior has high hopes for Lavia, and Dario Essugo is just three weeks away, so it may be a case of dealing with what is at his disposal until the absentees return.

But that hasn’t stopped the rumours. The most intriguing one, perhaps, has been Kante returning to Stamford Bridge, which doesn’t look like happening now.

N’Golo Kante is offered to Chelsea until the end of the season… what is your response?👀

N’Golo Kante to Fenerbahce is very much ‘on’

Whilst Chelsea ponder over an unlikely move for N’Golo Kante, Turkish side Fenerbahce have been working hard to try and secure the midfielder’s services.

Recently, it was even believed that Kante was demanding a three-year deal to sign for Jose Mourinho’s former club, with his contract running out in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano (as per DAZN on TikTok) has somewhat backed up various details, but there’s no mention of Chelsea.

“On this one, I give you a 60% because while we are here, I can tell you that Fenerbahce are working hard to try to get N’Golo Kante as soon as possible.

“There is a negotiation basically daily with Al-Ittihad on the transfer fee because, yes, N’Golo Kante is out of contract in the summer, but at the moment, from Fenerbahce, the message is clear.

“They want the player now, and so 60% because Fenerbahce are pushing, the player is seen on the move, it’s about the financial agreement, but the deal for Kante to Fenerbahce is absolutely on. And the message is clear.”

A move for N’Golo Kante never seemed possible

Chelsea would likely have only been looking for a temporary deal, which it doesn’t seem to have suited Kante’s preference at his age.

The Blues very much have a youth-first policy now, which has treated them well with players like Estevao Willian and Joao Pedro. But there have been calls from people like Jamie Redknapp for Chelsea to add experience, particularly at the heart of the defence.

It is all well and good having youthful exuberance in your side, but when things get tough, you need players with experience and know-how. Exactly like Thiago Silva.
