Caicedo says “world class” player “helped me a lot” – but he has barely played for Chelsea

Moises Caicedo took Chelsea’s press conference ahead of today’s huge game against Napoli, and had some interesting things to say.

“‘It will be an incredible game, and we are excited to play these kinds of games,” Caicedo said.

We have a great opponent in Napoli. For sure, it will be tough, but we will do so well because we have prepared in the best way to win this game,” the midfielder continued in quotes from the club’s website.

Caicedo was also asked about fellow midfielder Romeo Lavia, who made his latest long awaited return to training this week.

Just like every other coach and player who is asked about the Belgian, Caicedo talked up his ability and hoped for a brighter future:

“He is a world-class player. I have enjoyed playing alongside him. I miss him because he is a very good player who has helped me a lot,” the Ecuador star said of his teammate.

“We do a lot of things together, so I’m waiting for him because he is such a good player and he will do very well here.”

If only we could have faith that Lavia will one day overcome these problems. It’s comical to think how many minutes Caicedo has played compared to the Belgian since they both signed.

Malo Gusto spoke a little about tonight’s game too – he pointed out it’s likely to be a thriller simply because both teams need to win and don’t gain anything from a draw, an unusual setup for a group stage game.

Gusto is predicted to play by the guys from the London is Blue podcast, although we’re not so sure. It’s a big call over whether to use him or Reece James at right back.
