CLEVELAND, Ohio — Tristan Enaruna is getting his shot.
Enanrua, the former Cleveland State star who has been playing for the G League Charge this season, signed a two-way contract with the Cavaliers on Wednesday afternoon, taking the place of Chris Livingston who was officially waived as a result of a recent hand injury that will likely sideline him for about a month.
The 24-year-old Enaruna joins Luke Travers and Nae’Qwan Tomlin as Cleveland’s trio of two-way players.
The NBA roster sits at 17, one below the max.
Given that the Cavs are already more than halfway through their regular season, Enaruna will get a contract with a prorated number of games where he would be eligible to play in the NBA. The rest must be spent in the G League with Charge.
After going undrafted following his senior season at Cleveland State, Enaruna, a 6-foot-8 swingman, joined the Boston Celtics, spending about a year with their G League affiliate in Maine.
He participated with the Cavs at Las Vegas Summer League, turning heads and getting consideration for the final two-way spot then. Ultimately, the Cavs chose Livingston. But Enaruna remained with the organization, added to the Charge roster at the start of this season. Appearing in 23 games, Enaruna is averaging 19.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 30.8 minutes. He has scored 20-plus points 13 times, reaching his G League career-high twice with 29 points.
