The equation is simple for Liverpool tonight - beat Qarabag, and [a place in the last-16 of the Champions League will be secure](https://www.liverpool.com/liverpool-fc-news/features/qarabag-result-champions-league-table-33279593).
The Reds sit fourth in the league phase ahead of kick-off, which would of course be enough to see them avoid playing in the extra play-off round next month.
That would come as a big boost for Arne Slot and his side, given that injuries are piling up, but any sort of slip-up tonight could leave them in danger of falling out of the top eight.
Only Arsenal and Bayern Munich have secured a top-eight finish so far, with 16 more teams still in with a shout. A draw could be enough to see Liverpool through to the last-16, although it would be running the risk of being overtaken by a host of other clubs.
A defeat, meanwhile, would leave the Reds in real danger of dropping out of the top eight, although they would be guaranteed to be one of the seeded teams in the play-offs.
