The Golden State Warriors are a desperate team. With Jimmy Butler tearing his ACL, it looks bleak for them to make the playoffs. Right now, they sit eighth in the Western Conference standings. Giannis Antetokounmpo could be their savior.

Antetokounmpo has let everyone know that he wants out of Milwaukee. Now, it’s up to the Bucks to make a deal for him. There’s a chance that they wait until the summer to deal him, but the Warriors would like to trade for him now so he can help them this year.

A trade proposal from Bleacher Report would see Golden State add Antetokounmpo in a Hail Mary to give Stephen Curry one last shot at competing for a title.

Wild Trade Proposal Sees Giannis Antetokounmpo go to Warriors

Here is the full trade idea:

Golden State Warriors get: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kyle Kuzma and Thanasis Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks get: Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, a 2026 first-round pick swap, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2030 first-round pick, a 2031 first-round pick swap, and a 2032 first-round pick

Sending five first-round picks to Milwaukee would certainly mortgage the future. Still, Curry is still playing at an elite level. He likely only has a couple more years of this level of play left in him, and the Warriors are hoping to salvage what they can while he is still great.

Of course, Antetokounmpo is currently injured. He is going to be out for four to six weeks with a calf strain, which is the second time he has suffered that injury this year. The Warriors would also add Kuzma, who can score at times even if his defense is terrible.

Right now, the Warriors are the 15th-best offense in the league. They need someone who can help them on the offensive end if they want to compete for not just a playoff spot, but a championship. This trade only works if Golden State is able to win a title.

The Warriors Could Make a Desperation Trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo immediately becomes the hottest name available at the trade deadline. Milwaukee could decide to wait until the summer to make a move, but it will likely get a better deal before the deadline from desperate teams. Golden State could be one of those teams.

The Bucks likely won’t get a deal better than the one described above from another team in terms of draft assets. Getting five first-round draft picks along with Kuminga and Moody as young pieces to build around is solid. Butler might need to be moved at some point, though.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. is the one who has to make these tough choices. He only has a couple of weeks to make a move for Golden State in order to salvage the season. Unless they make a major move, this will be a wasted season for the Warriors that was derailed by injuries and poor offensive play.
