Jeremie Frimpong injury news as the right-back is forced off in Liverpool’s clash against Qarabag.
Jeremie Frimpong was forced off in Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Qarabag.
The right-back pulled up within two minutes of the game in worrying fashion. He received treatment before being replaced by Wataru Endo. Frimpong has had two hamstring injuries since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for £29.5 million last summer. The Netherlands international appeared to be clutching his groin when being treated by the Reds’ medical staff.
Frimpong’s setback adds to the Reds’ already concerning list of players sidelined. Curtis Jones was not included in the squad against Qarabag because of illness, while Joe Gomez suffered a hip injury in the 3-2 defeat by Bournemouth. Alexander Isak (broken leg), Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni (both knee) are long-term casualties. Ibrahima Konate is still unavailable as he has been granted compassionate leave following the passing of his father.
Liverpool welcome Newcastle United to Anfield on Saturday before they face Manchester City on Sunday 8 February.
