Kostas Tsimikas joined AS Roma on a season-long loan from Liverpool over the summer. The Greece international, who arrived at Anfield from Olympiacos in 2020, has made 115 appearances for the Reds, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup – scoring the decisive penalty in the 2022 final against Chelsea—and two Carabao Cups.
Since moving to Roma, Tsimikas has struggled for regular minutes, featuring in just 11 Serie A games this season for 380 minutes and starting only three matches, despite left wing-back Angelino being frequently absent.
Recent reports suggested he could return to Liverpool early, especially if Andy Robertson were to depart, but updates indicate that neither player is set to leave their current clubs before the transfer window closes.
Reports on Wednesday also revealed that Besiktas have opened surprise talks with Liverpool over a potential loan deal for defender Kostas Tsimikas.
Speaking ahead of Roma’s Europa League decider against Panathinaikos in Greece, Tsimikas addressed the rumours, stating he is “very focused” on his work with Roma and committed to the task at hand.
Tsimikas said: “I’m very focused on my team. I want to be part of this group and improve as a player. We’ve heard a lot of rumours, a lot of information, but it’s better to cover your ears and just try to give your best when the opportunities come. For me, my only goal is this: I am here and I want to show the best of myself.”
“I try to give the best version of myself every time the coach gives me the opportunity. I try to take advantage of it. My goal is to evolve as a footballer, to progress and I believe I can give much more. This is and will remain my goal.”
