NBA world buzzing over future of superstar as trade rumors swirl

MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Bucks are talking with other NBA teams about possible trades for Giannis Antetokounmpo, league sources say. The two-time MVP has been one of the best players in basketball for more than a decade.

Antetokounmpo, 31, has told the Bucks he is ready for a new team either before the Feb. 5 trade deadline or in the offseason, according to a report by ESPN. The Bucks are said to be listening to offers from other teams, however they are not in a hurry to make a deal. They reportedly want young players or future draft picks in return for Antetokounmpo.

This season, the Bucks have struggled and are not near the top of the Eastern Conference standings. That has fueled speculation about Antetokounmpo’s future with the team.

Antetokounmpo has not played recently because of a calf injury. He is expected to miss several weeks while he heals.

The star player has won many awards, including two MVP honors, and led the Bucks to an NBA title in 2021. Those accomplishments make him an attractive trade target.

Even though trade talk is getting louder, Antetokounmpo has not publicly demanded a trade. Some teams around the league are believed to be preparing offers if the Bucks decide to move Antetokounmpo. But nothing is final yet.
