The incident occurred in the hours before Chelsea's clash against Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona.
Chelsea Football Club has issued a statement after several of their travelling supporters were attacked by a group of “20 or 30 people” before the London club’s Champions League clash against Napoli, with two receiving hospital treatment, according to reports.
Two Chelsea supporters were given hospital treatment after being caught up in what has been described as a targeted attack in the city of Naples.
As reported by BBC Sport, a 22-year-old man named Marcus said he and a group of fellow Chelsea fans were targeted by a group of the Serie A side’s ‘ultras’ on Tuesday (January 27).
He explained how a group of 20 to 30 people clad in all black began walking towards the English fans as soon as they spotted them after they had turned a corner.
The 22-year-old was with “seven or eight” of his friends and said that “everyone was shaken up” once the away fans found the local police.

"I was in shorts, and they were covered in blood, with blood going all down my leg. We think it was a screwdriver – it could've been a Stanley blade,” he said.
“It was either that or a screwdriver.
"I didn't really feel it until I started running away. My left cheek felt heavy, almost, and as soon as I touched it my hand was covered in blood."
On Tuesday (January 27), Chelsea released a statement in which it said two supporters were being treated in hospital after suffering “non-life-threatening injuries” in the attack.
“The club is aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday evening in Naples,” a statement posted to the club’s X account read.
“Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“The club would like to remind all supporters to exercise extreme caution whilst in the city and take note of the advice shared ahead of this fixture.”
