Liverpool has been dealt yet another injury blow, with Jeremie Frimpong the latest to add to Arne Slot's worries after just three minutes against Qarabag in the Champions League.
The Dutchman started at right-back once again in the absence of Conor Bradley, who is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee problem. Just moments into the Reds' final league phase game at Anfield though, Frimpong pulled up and looked to be holding his hamstring.
His teammates indicated to the bench that a substitution was needed, with Wataru Endo replacing him as Frimpong looked distraught as he made his way off the pitch.
Frimpong has already suffered a hamstring injury this season, having also been forced off during the 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt back in October, which led to him missing around two months of action.
The 25-year-old’s injury will come as a huge blow to Liverpool, with the Reds’ options in defense already majorly depleted.
Arne Slot was forced to start with just one recognized senior center-back in his side against Qarabag in Virgil van Dijk, with Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni both injured, while Ibrahima Konate remains away following the death of his father.

Bradley’s injury has led to Frimpong starting at right-back recently, having filled in on the right wing during Mohamed Salah’s spell away at the Africa Cup of Nations. The Dutchman’s injury may now lead to Calvin Ramsay coming back into contention, although Slot already played down the prospect of the Scot returning to the starting line-up.
Liverpool is also without Alexander Isak, with the striker having broken his leg against Tottenham last month, and likely to be out for at least two or three months.

Despite the growing injury crisis in defense, Slot has indicated that he doesn’t expect any major signings to be made before the end of the Janaury transfer window, with Liverpool having already decided against a move for Marc Guehi this month.
Liverpool.com says: Surely now Liverpool has to make a move in the transfer market for a defender. Carrying on with both Endo and Ryan Gravenberch having to fill in at the back is not setting itself up for any kind of success this season.
