Liverpool have suffered a major injury concern during their Champions League clash with Qarabag on Wednesday night. Jeremie Frimpong was forced off with an injury and replaced by Wataru Endo.
The summer signing has struggled at Anfield due to injury, missing 10 league games with two separate hamstring problems. Frimpong returned in mid-December and looked to be regaining form ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Qarabag.
However, after just two minutes on the pitch, he suffered another suspected hamstring injury. He was visibly frustrated as he left the field. Previewing the matchday eight meeting with the Azerbaijani side, Frimpong said on Tuesday: “I feel really good.
“Obviously I’m from Manchester, so to be back in the UK is really nice. To play for a team like Liverpool is really a privilege. I’ve got good teammates as well. I’m really happy where I am right now.
“Obviously everybody wants to play in the Champions League. The Champions League is one of the biggest competitions out there, so everybody wants to show what they’ve got in the Champions League. Obviously we’re going to give it our all and hopefully we can get to where we want to get.
He added: I think sometimes football is like this – sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn’t. Obviously we try our best every game but sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way. That’s all I can say about the past results. But in the Champions League we’re doing good, we’re in a good position. If we win tomorrow, we can qualify to [the] Round of 16, so we’re really focused on that.”
“We’re still in the FA Cup, we’re still in the Champions League. So if we win the FA Cup and Champions League, we’ll be really happy.”
