Joao Pedro has been speaking after Chelsea’s statement away win over Napoli in the Champions League.

Chelsea match-winner Joao Pedro has revealed what Liam Rosenior told his team at half time of their huge Champions League away win over Napoli. The Blues led in Naples through Enzo Fernandez, but they then fell behind and faced a potential Round of 16 play-off as a result.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, match-winner Joao Pedro spoke about Rosenior’s message at the break while also praising the impact of Cole Palmer, who was introduced at the break. "The coach said [at half-time] to try to be calm, and to try put our game on the pitch,” said the forward.

"The second half of the game was more open. Cole [Palmer] is a brilliant player when he is on the pitch - he is a special player. It is very positive for us because people have a lot of doubt about us. I think today we showed our power. We need to rest and now focus on the Premier League."

Rosenior also spoke after the game, saying: “Firstly to get through in this competition is the most important thing. In terms of the season and time on the pitch with the players, it will help. I've had no time - that's not an excuse, it's a fact.”

Asked about Joao Pedro’s performance and whether he can earn a World Cup call-up this summer, he added: “For sure. Carlo Ancelotti is one of my heroes so I don't want to tell him how to do his job. I've had four really good conversations with Joao already in my office - I think he's sick of my office. I've said to him that if you play intensely the way you do with your quality.”

Osman praise

Leon Osman was impressed by Chelsea’s win in Naples, which actually knocked Napoli out of the competition altogether. The former Everton star told BBC Sport: “Away in Napoli, it's an intense place. Not many teams go there and win. It doesn't matter what team Napoli put out, it's not an easy place to go and win.

“And yet, Liam Rosenior found a way of doing it. Chelsea found a way of doing it. They grew into the game. I think that's how you're going to see him and Chelsea's journey progress.”
