Per ESPN's Tim MacMahon, the Spurs aren't pursuing Antetokounmpo as he doesn't fit to their future timeline with Victor Wembanyama.
Since the news broke out that the Milwaukee Bucks are now listening to offers around Giannis Antetokounmpo, the San Antonio Spurs have been identified by several reports as one of the primary trade candidates that could land the Greek sensation.
But contrary to the recent claims, Tim MacMahon of ESPN revealed that the Spurs are out of the Giannis sweepstakes, as they are pretty much focused on their future of building around Victor Wembanyama.
"I have been told by folks with the Spurs we’re not a home for Giannis," he said on The Hoop Collective podcast. "There’s a lot of smoke around that going back to the summer, but everything in San Antonio is about the Wemby timeline.
"When you bring in Giannis at his age, this is a decade past the Wemby timeline."
Giannis is currently in his prime already at age 31. As such, the Spurs' core that is being headlined by Wembanyama is relatively younger.
Besides, San Antonio has all the confidence in the long run considering their current standing. This season, they have taken a meteoric rise as the No. 2 squad in the West with a 31-15 record.
As teams continue to battle it out for Antetokounmpo, the Spurs are sitting comfortably on the other side with Wembanyama leading the way.
