Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Moises Caciedo, Dusan Vlahovic and Jaeremy Jacquet that you may have missed…
Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet is reportedly holding out for a transfer move to Chelsea this January window or at the end of the season, despite strong interest from several top teams.
It has been claimed that the player has asked to join CHELSEA, the club have come to an agreement over a deal for the defender and it was only a matter of time before an announcement was made by the clubs hierarchy.
However – in recent weeks the possible move has stalled because Chelsea seemingly do not want to meet the asking price that has been set by the French club, but that does not seem to be the end of the saga.
In a fresh twist, L’Equipe have reported that Chelsea could indeed return with an offer this month, and that Rennes could end up accepting an offer if one arrives worth 50million euros or more, which is £43.3million
Now, Sky Sports report that Jacquet has privately ‘expressed a preference’ to complete a switch to Stamford Bridge, which could prove decisive in determining what the future holds for the Rennes star.
French football expert Julian Laurens recently compared the talented Jacquet to Arsenal star William Saliba: ‘I think he is the real deal,’ Laurens told Sky Sports. ‘I know he’s only 20 and has very little experience, even in Ligue 1 because he hasn’t played for France or in the Champions League or even the Europa League.
‘There’s still a long time to go for him but he’s been impressive since he was recalled from his loan in the second division last season.
‘He’s a player Liam Rosenior will know because he’s played against him and seen him in action. You can’t get it wrong, really, because he is amazing and he is going to be amazing.
‘He reminds me a bit of William Saliba when he burst onto the scene in France at Saint-Etienne.
‘The question is how much do they value the potential and talent because he’s only 20 and you’re paying a lot for someone who hasn’t proved much because he hasn’t played many games.
‘So how much are CHELSEA ready to pay? Rennes want more than Man City paid for Doku which was 64m euros. So Chelsea will need to pay at least £60m which is a lot of money for such a young player.’
VLAHOVIC INTERESTED IN MOVE?
There has been some fresh reports in the media which have claimed that Chelsea are hoping to sign Dusan Vlahovic on a free transfer from Juventus at the end of the season, and he could be open to a move to Englan according to reported Iomie Stanley
Though Vlahovic has been an important performer for Juventus in recent season, scoring 64 goals in 162 games, the Italian side are keen to offload his club-high £350,000-a-week wages.
Clubs across Europe are on alert regarding Vlahovic’s situation. TEAMtalk are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur and CHELSEA have contacted the player’s representatives.
Vlahovic is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides this month and the London duo are battling for his signature. AC Milan are also keen and confident of a deal, despite Vlahovic’s interest in a move to England
And according to reporter Stanley, he could be interested in a mega money move to England, he told icfootballnews: ‘Dušan Vlahović is a powerful centre-forward known for his physical presence, aerial ability, and eye for goal — traits that could suit the Premier League’s intensity.
‘With a strong record in Italy’s top flight, Vlahović would add a proven goalscorer to Chelsea’s attack — something the Blues have lacked consistency in recently. He’s alo played in the top Leagues and the Champions League, giving him a maturity that can help a young Chelsea front line.
‘This blend of attributes means he could instantly compete for a starting role — particularly in games where Chelsea need a focal point up front or a plan B to more creative attackers.
‘A free transfer for Dušan Vlahović could be a smart strategic signing for CHELSEA — but only if the club integrates him well and balances his role in the team. He isn’t the transformative figure who guarantees 20+ goals a season on his own, yet his physicality, Serie A experience, and finishing ability add a useful dimension to Chelsea’s attack
‘And the fact he would get more than his £300k-a-week that he gets at Juventus, he would more than be open to a move to Chelsea’
MOISE CAICEDO CLAIM MADE
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has opened up and revealed there is no defensive midfielder in world football he would prefer to have over Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo has been at CHELSEA for the last couple of seasons after the Blues opted to splash over £100 million to secure his services ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Many doubted that he would be able to liv upto the expectations that came with a massive price tag, but he is a player that done well under former boss Enzo Maresca, and is a player that Rosenior is very happy to have in his squad.
Caicedo undertook pre-match press conference duties alongside head coach ahead of our Champions League clash with Napoli this evening, and Rosenior was effusive in his praise of the man sitting to his left.
He said: ‘In my opinion, as a defensive midfield player, I wouldn’t want to sit next to anybody else in world football. That’s what I think of Moi; he knows that as I’ve told him.
‘I have a background at Brighton, so I know everything about his career. The scary thing is that yes, he is young, but he sometimes plays like he is 35 years old because his understanding of the game is top.
‘For me, one of the most exciting things about coming to this club was to work with players of Moi’s level and capacity, but also try to help improve even more, which I think is achievable.’
IcFootballnews Says…
There are still alot of people out there that believe Caicedo was not worth the money that was paid, but he does his job very well, he scores a few goals and gets an assist here and there, the move has worked out.
He still has time to develop and at CHELSEA, he is doing that pretty well, so Rosenior will be hoping he can keep the midfielder fit and keep him away from the bigger clubs that may be interested.
