Arsenal are preparing for a busy end to the January transfer window, with one eye on the summer too.
Player departures have taken precedence so far. The Gunners have already sanctioned Ethan Nwaneri's loan move, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is poised to complete a permanent exit, and attention has now turned to Christian Norgaard. The summer acquisition has scarcely appeared for Arsenal this campaign, prompting several European sides to monitor his situation.
A January exit seems improbable, though he could be offloaded come summer, giving Arsenal ample opportunity to secure a replacement - with one player in that role already catching their eye. Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez remains another target, continuing to be touted for an Emirates Stadium move. Here's all the latest news from the Emirates after the Gunners ended the initial Champions League phase top of the table with a perfect record.

Arsenal 'keen' on £48m acquisition
Freiburg's Johan Manzambi is having an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga, which has subsequently attracted Premier League attention.
Sports Boom report that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all keen to secure the services of the 20-year-old Swiss midfielder. Their report suggests his asking price could prove problematic, though.
This is believed to be around £43m to £48m, with Freiburg presumably eager to retain him after he progressed through their youth system, reports the Mirror.
He has featured in 26 matches across all competitions this campaign, netting four times and providing five assists.

The La Liga strikes for Julian Alvarez have become increasingly scarce in recent weeks, with the Argentine enduring a 10-match goalless streak in Spain's premier division. This led to a telling revelation last week.
Atletico's club president Enrique Cerezo informed journalists: "He's going through a moment where we don't know what's happening to him."
Diego Simeone subsequently offered a markedly different reaction when questioned about whether Alvarez retained the faith of the fanbase.
He responded: "Seriously? Are you seriously asking me that? The truth is that Julian Alvarez speaks for himself because of the name he has, the authority he carries, and the career he's built, right?"
It's conceivable the former Manchester City ace might be somewhat disturbed by the speculation surrounding his future, with ESPN recently suggesting Arsenal are considering a summer swoop for Alvarez.

They have also confirmed that an unofficial inquiry about his potential availability has been submitted, with the forward carrying a £87m price tag.
