Alan Smith has said that Viktor Gyokeres could leave Arsenal if the Gunners were to sign an £87m striker.
The Gunners are yet to make any moves in the January transfer window, as Mikel Arteta is already very happy with his Arsenal squad. His side are top of both the Premier League and Champions League table as things stand.

Arteta will hope his side can improve their lead at the top of the Champions League with a win against Kairat on Wednesday night. He will hope one of his strikers can be the key during the game, but it’s not clear whether he’ll play Gyokeres, Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz.
The latter is set to return from injury, but Jesus and Gyokeres both scored in the Gunners’ last Champions League game against Inter.
Arsenal linked to signing Julian Alvarez
As far as the striker position is concerned, Arsenal have been linked to signing former Man City forward Julian Alvarez, who is currently playing for La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
The former Man City star left the Etihad in August 2024, and has since scored 40 goals in 86 matches, although it is understood he could return to the Premier League.
Reports have said that Arsenal could make a move for him, and that Atletico would likely demand around £87m if they were to sell him.
Alan Smith says Gyokeres would leave if Alvarez joins
Former Gunner Alan Smith has said that if Alvarez were to join at the Emirates, it could be the end of the road for Gyokeres’ career in North London.
He told us via BestBettingSites.co.uk: “He’s [Alvarez] a goal scorer with a very decent record. I don’t know what’s happened at Atletico Madrid, but if he did come in, Gyökeres, it wouldn’t be great news for him, and there’d be every possibility of him leaving perhaps, but he is struggling.
“At the moment, he’s got the odd goal, but we’ll see. The fact that the top scorer in the team at the top of the Premier League is five goals doesn’t bode well but you can still win the title with everybody chipping in, but ideally, you’d like somebody who can get close to 20 league goals.”
