Petit Labels Man Utd Summer Signing A "Bargain" After Witnessing Arsenal Display

**Emmanuel Petit has lavished praise on Man Utd forward Bryan Mbeumo following his performance against Arsenal at the weekend.**

The Red Devils splashed out £71m on the Cameroon international last summer, but Petit says the investment was more than worth it:

“I saw exactly what I thought about this player against Arsenal, it’s Mbeumo. I think in terms of movement, he’s very intelligent. He’s got this flair in front of the goal. He’s very good in terms of assists as well.”

“I love his work rate. I love his behaviour on the pitch, technically, mentally as well. But more importantly, I like his movement, the link with his players all the time. He brings something different up front. He’s not that physical, but in the meantime, he puts everything he has on the pitch. But I love him because he’s very intelligent.”

“When I saw Manchester United buy him in the last transfer market, I thought, this is a good bargain.”

Mbeumo’s stats this season

--------------------------

The 26-year-old’s [**goal at the Emirates**](https://manunews.com/blog/man-utd-player-ratings-arsenal/) on Sunday evening has taken his total to 9 for the campaign. He still has some way to go to match the 20 he managed for Brentford last year.

However, Mbeumo is still on course for around 15 based on his current goals-to-game ratio, and that won’t be a bad return, considering he was also absent for a while due to the African Cup of Nations.

Is he Man Utd’s best summer signing?

------------------------------------

Mbeumo was the club’s second most expensive purchase, but his contributions so far do suggest he is the pick of the bunch out of last summer’s arrivals.

Senne Lammens has begun to find his feet in the Premier League, and Matheus Cunha has had flashes of inspiration, even if he hasn’t always been consistent. Benjamin Sesko has arguably been the least convincing, but he is also the youngest of the four.
