Future Duke point guard Deron Rippey, Jr. has been on a tear during his senior season for Blair Academy. The 6-foot, 175 pound explosive lead guard was one of the top risers in the latest 247Sports.com rankings release, moving into the Top 10 for the class thanks to a strong series of performances for Blair.
Recently Rippey spoke with NBA.com contributor Krysten Peek to break down his decision to become a Blue Devil and the start to his final year of high school basketball.
When discussing what it was about head coach Jon Scheyer and his program that put the Blue Devils over the top, Rippey said it was because Duke matched the level he wants to keep pursuing. He said the separator was "the level that they play at in college basketball," and connected it directly to the schedule he sought out over the summer, where he felt he was "going everywhere and playing the highest level of high school basketball." For Rippey, the next step was about continuity: "I just want to keep that momentum going into college."
